[Chase/Foreman AU]

Chase knew that Foreman needed help with the Vicodin and that it would probably be time for another go -- seeing as he was getting accustomed to Vicodin cycles, what with House around -- and headed for the back room, checking to see if Foreman was still dozing.

He lingered in the doorway, just watching him. He seemed just so peaceful and he wondered how much had happened between them, how much Foreman knew about Chase that he didn't even know about himself.

Eventually, he cleared his throat quietly. "Foreman?"

Chase nodded. "Okay, I know most about myself, Wilson, or House. So, take your pick." He grabbed one of the pillows and set it on his lap, leaning forward on it.

"Hmm. Start with you. What's been going on with you?"

Foreman propped up on his elbow and watched, waiting on Chase to begin.

Chase figured that Foreman would pick the hard option. "Well. Like I said, been here seven months. Been with...a lot of people since. Had some not so great things happen. Well, a lot of not so great things," he admitted.

"Sleeping around?"

Foreman wasn't judging, just trying to get Chase to cut to the point and stop trying to skirt around it for his benefit.

"A little," Chase admitted. "There were...a few guys and a few women. A few relationships." He watched Foreman carefully for the reaction.

Foreman's face was blank, partially from the vicodin and partially from the fact that he'd always suspected Chase went both ways. Too damn pretty not to.

"And some went sour?"

Chase smiled, laughing slightly. "That's the nice way to put it." He leaned forward, tapping his nose slightly. "Got this broken."

Foreman looked and yeah, it was definitely not straight anymore.

"How'd that happen? It looks like it was a nasty break."

Chase nodded. He leaned back, closing off just a little. "My ex, he punched me because I was refusing to let him just walk away. Exactly as he had me promise. Wasn't the only time we fought."

"Wait a second, " Foreman said, confused. "This guy punched you for letting him do what you promised you would do?"

Chase nodded. "Yeah." He fidgeted slightly. "After we'd broken up, there were some...fights, where I got a bit pushed around and he started coming...well, he was..."

He trailed off, feeling uncomfortable.

Foreman grinned a little.

"Does Eric have to choke a bitch?"

Hey, he could occasionally be ghetto.

Chase smiled slightly. "We're okay now. Jay didn't like him, but we're okay. He got my ex-girlfriend pregnant. They uh, slept around behind my back a few times and she got knocked up."

Foreman let out a low sigh.

"Damn Chase. You just attract drama, don't you? And who's Jay?"

The harder topic.

"He uh. He was my fiance."

"Was? As in, not anymore?"

This was interesting. Very interesting.

Chase nodded slowly. "That was very recent."

"Was it a bad breakup?"

Must not have been, since Chase didn't have any broken appendages.

Chase shrugged. "He and my mother never really...you know. It didn't work. He proposed and I accepted and then things happened."

Foreman sat up then.

"Your mom? But she's been dead for years. How does Jay know her?"

Chase bit his lip. Of course the time paradoxes were going to come up. "Time here, isn't very consistent. My mother is here."

"Like you remember her? Sickly?"

Foreman didn't want Chase having to deal with caring for his drunk mother all over again. It clearly had done a number on him.

Chase shook his head. "From earlier, thank God," he admitted with a rush of breath. "I couldn't do it again."

"Yeah, that's what I was worried about. So she's healthy? Happy?"

Chase's mom could either be the best thing or the worst thing to ever happen to him. Foreman didn't want it to be the latter.

Chase nodded slowly. "Healthy, pretty happy lately. It's...she's here and she's alive. It's amazing. It's a miracle," he exhaled thankfully.
