Normally in the mornings, Chase would just curl up with the blankets and go back to sleep or he would rouse himself for a run. Today, he just wanted to get a little closer and warmer and burrowed up against the Doctor, trying to wrap his arms around him. Trying was the operative word because they just wouldn't go.

He gave a small little grunt and it came out like a whine and he wondered if maybe the dog or something was in the way. Eventually, he tried again and once more, came up with nothing, at which point he opened his eyes and stared up and up and up at the Doctor, looking at him with accusatory and wide eyes.

"Doctor," he whined, burrowing his face into his chest. "Stop being so big."
dr_robchase: (play the violin)
Chase had been looking at the calendar with something like trepidation since August had rolled around and it wasn't just because he kept expecting himself to suddenly be teleported to be a T-Rex's chew toy again (even if it wasn't a T-Rex that had chewed on him, it wasn't like he took notes on that kind of thing). But nothing had happened and August kept on bulldozing along, apparently not caring that he was having issues and was exhausted past the point of it in trying to take home files from the psych department and make new notes on them since Catherine hadn't turned up in...well, a while.

Of course, he had a gift. He wouldn't have not-gotten-one and he had it sitting to the side of the Treehouse as he lay on his back and made annotations with a pencil, chewing on the end lightly as he kept an eye on the door, wondering if they were actually going to make something of the day or just let it roll by.
dr_robchase: (half drugged)
He had overslept, but he figured he was allowed to do that just every often and he just grasped the pillow a little harder, burrowing in with a whimper of a grunt, one arm draped over the Doctor's waist. He had no idea what time it was, but it felt like it was going to be a hell of a hot day, at this rate.

Deep breath in, he pressed his nose against the Doctor's shoulder, not daring to open his eyes as he tried to determine if the Doctor was awake yet. His breathing still seemed too deep and slow, though, so Chase let himself drift off a little more, figuring he could squeeze a couple more minutes out of his unintentional lie-in.

[For Gwen]

dr_robchase: (just woke up)
He was both awake and drowsy as he scuttled around the room, probably not really staying true to the whole Saturday-Morning-Lazy-Lie-in, but he was planning to release all the copies of the study (well, abridged at least) on Wednesday and he kept thinking that he was going to read over them and discover he'd insulted everyone at large and he couldn't stop worrying.

"Gwen, what if there's backlash?" he asked, voice strung with panic as he gaped up from a copy, standing at the foot of the bed with one foot on the floor, one knee on the covers.

[Poll #1166823]
dr_robchase: (cute and coy)
He'd gotten the note. Just because he'd gotten it didn't mean he had to like what it said and had pulled a sulking tantrum of a move when he'd crumpled it into a ball and tossed it over his shoulder and let it fall to the ground. From there, he had gone about his business and then April 1st rolled around and everything just...stopped.

It was the kindest April Fools he'd ever seen in his life.

That didn't write off what the Doctor had done. Not what he'd done, but maybe the why of it. If he wanted to go walkabout, Chase had just wished he would've at least been able to guess the reason, but he hadn't been. And that bugged him more than the actual leaving. He'd been arranging files at the Treehouse, now that everything had calmed down and was happy for the automatic task, which allowed his mind to drift as he worked.
dr_robchase: (too good: by magique_icon)
He'd seen his name on the bulletin board and his little cute 'pseudonym' and he'd immediately gone in search of, oh, maybe an explanation or two or maybe to wonder just who was cruel enough to have done that to him. Not to mention he had to find out who was in charge of the whole thing and plead with them to let him off the hook, seeing as he didn't even want to do it in the first place.

Because...god, everyone was going to laugh and it was going to be miserable.
dr_robchase: (piercing)
When he'd woken up, there had been a heavy weight sitting right on his frame that made a 'thunk' of a noise against his head when he shifted and it came barrelling down to smack him. He groaned loudly as he drew himself away from the Doctor to see what the matter was. A cursory inspection with one peeked eye showed nothing but a black case.

Wait.

He opened both eyes to discover a black case with a nametag on it for him. Slowly, he sat up and groaned sleepily, opening it up to see just what was going on and the moment, the very moment he got it open, a curse was exhaled past his lips. He was staring at a three-thousand dollar violin. It had to be at least worth that, a Guarneri by the tone (having just plucked a string).

He hadn't played since he was in twenty-four. Not since he'd come to the States and had left his old family-inherited violin in a closet. As he drew out the bow to inspect it, he discovered it to be brand new as well and his eyes traversed over it in awe, biting down on his lip as he withdrew the chinrest and the violin both, setting it up.

The Doctor was still sleeping, but it wouldn't be for long, not when Chase went to town with something easy, yet classic, right in the Doctor's ear. The first thing he would wake up to were the first violin bars of Pachelbel's Canon, the first song Chase had ever learned to play.

[For Will]

dr_robchase: (bitch please)
There were a few things that made Chase want to crawl in a hole and die forever. Some of them included the embarrassment of his mother turning up to pick him up from a mate's, pissed out of her mind and slurring her way as she flirted with Nathan's father. It just made him want to die. Not to mention every last one of his father's attempts to 'bond'.

He never thought this would happen though. It'd been a quiet day and with the snow, they had just figured Will would be out playing. So, he and the Doctor had been talking, which led to kissing, which led to Chase being pinned down on the couch, half-bent in an awkward position as he was being undressed.

And that had been the moment of catching in flagrante, if you would.

Which left Chase in an awkward position of having to figure out just how the hell he was supposed to explain it all. He had to try though, there was no excuse for not trying, seeing as he gave this speech to kids in the clinic all the time. They just usually weren't so emotionally tied into his own personal being.

He knocked lightly on the door. "Will? Are you in there?"

January 20th:

Chase, more tired than he's been in some time, finds out from House that Cuddy miscarried and Jack has run off.

January 21st:

Chase discusses the whole situation with the Doctor and is told who the baby really belonged to. He also has a conversation with the Doctor about how they both felt during the whole debacle and resolve to move on, but ask for the things they want.

January 22nd:

Chase hears House loudly drinking and goes downstairs to relive his past and help.

January 24th:

Chase spends his Clinic shift tossing around a rugby ball. House comes in to talk to him, the Doctor gets him in order to show him that the key he'd gotten earlier in the year actually means more than it did before now that the TARDIS has arrived, Jack comes in, only to get a stern glaring at, and Wilson needs medical help.

January 28th:

Chase and Wilson get into a fight and Wilson starts to question it all.

January 29th:

After all the bodyswitching, Chase finds House in order to figure out if he needs any help that can be offered.

February 3rd:

Chase gets high under the moon. Maureen joins him and they enjoy the spliff before taking things to a more private location. Even though the Doctor warns Chase about what it does to his constitution (makes him very, very honest), he joins him in smoking and they talk dirty.

February 9th:

The Doctor has just found out that Romana has disappeared, a fact that Chase had already been aware of. He is quiet and offers support for the Doctor, who is experiencing the first disappearance of someone meaningful to him. Chase pleads with the Doctor to not leave before telling him about his prior Island experiences.

February 10th:

Chase helps with Bridget's birthing, presenting a baby boy to the new mother. He also calms House down when the baby has piercing blue eyes and the paternity might still be in question.
dr_robchase: (lit well)
The least Chase could do was give the Doctor the decency of a nice outfit that didn't burn his retinas. If he was going to make the (insanely) older man ski, Chase was going to look normal, which meant a deep blue parka, black ski-pants and looking like a product of the 90's and not the 1890's.

He was standing near the lifts, his poles dug into the ground as he slid a pair of deep-blue goggles up onto his toque, just waiting around.

In the back of his mind, there was that notion that the Doctor just might try and bail on him. And then he would never hear the end of it. No, he definitely would turn up, because he had to know that not showing would yield very, very bad results.
dr_robchase: (chase says thumbs up!)
December 24th:

December 31st:

When the Island throws a party, Chase sets up tequila shots for interested parties, which includes Meredith Grey, Neil McCormick, James Wilson, Gwen Cooper, and Cuddy. He also checks in with House at the party. The liquor eventually persuades Chase to sing Sheets of Egyptian Cotton.

In order to honour tradition, Chase meets House for a midnight kiss and more.

January 1st:

January 2nd:

In order to apologize for being such a flirt on New Year's, Chase greets House enthusiastically and amorously and drags him away for sex.

Chase works his clinic shift while going over the new patient information forms. Cuddy discusses them with him, Bridget talks to Chase about her pregnancy, Aziraphale comes for help with his back, and Gwen and Chase have a discussion that is still more acquaintance-like than friendly.

Chase is the doctor-on-call when Andrej and Faramir's bodies are found and he pronounces their deaths.

January 4th:

Chase greets the Doctor in a good mood, but it goes incredibly downhill when they fight over what Sirius did to Chase nearly a year ago. It ends with Chase giving the Doctor back his key and leaving.

Chase comes across House while still in shock and they discuss what happened.

Chase, having spent the night on the couch, wakes up in the morning worse for the wear. Jane comes by and asks if she can do anything for him, House comes by to try and get Chase to get some decent sleep, Sirius is in a bad way and tries to find Chase for comfort, but that doesn't go over well. Death also tries to take Chase back to her room to care for him. Finally, Jay comes by and figures out exactly what happened.

January 9th:

When the Doctor brings Jane to the Clinic, he also stumbles upon Chase and they make up.

January 10th:

Chase comes by to properly appreciate House's new motorcyle.

January 15th:

Chase finds out that House is actually worried that Bridget Jones' baby is actually his.
dr_robchase: (for posterity)
He was pretty sure that this was a bad idea on par with a lot of other bad choices he'd made in his life; like fleeing the country the minute he could after graduation and doing an internship in the States, working his way out to Jersey. While maybe not as bad as that, it still wasn't the best day of his life, that he was willing to give a physical to a man that the Doctor had warned him about.

And yet, there he was, fulfilling the oath he'd taken. Maybe, he told himself, the Master wouldn't come in. Maybe he would forget it was Wednesday and Chase could just keep updating records rather than feel that awkward feeling that he'd gotten in spades at the party.

"Right," he mumbled to himself. "Wishful thinking."
dr_robchase: (Default)
The Doctor looked at each of them, opening them and grinning like a loon with each one. He looked over the paper, flushed, and folded it, putting it in his pocket to read later, then kissed Chase on the cheek. "You made the cupcakes?"

"I made them all by myself," he said, more proud of that than anything, beaming away as he looked the Doctor in the eye. The paper...well. "I know you're nine hundred and seventy six, but according to what you look like, it's thirty four. Which is why the paper is thirty-four things about you that I love so much that I'm not sure how I got by without them before."

He could be a hopeless romantic. He just had to be in love, completely and totally.

The Doctor promptly ate one, without a word further. Mouth half full and a smear of frosting on his upper lip, he said, "You are entirely too much, you know that?"

Chase gave the Doctor a dubious look when he ate the cupcake like he was all of five-years-old and leaned over with a napkin to wipe off the smeared frosting, giving him a pointed smile. "It's a gift. Now, that t-shirt took me five hours to find. So don't rip it for some idiot's sake this time. Got it?"
dr_robchase: (grumpypants)
November 28th:

House is back on the pills and Chase is desperate to just feel something.

December 2nd:

Chase is finally beginning to feel human again, even though he's hardly dressed for the newly-found cold. The Doctor tries to warm him up and gets him back to the Treehouse, where Chase announces that he's ready to fully move in. Wilson and Chase discuss the sharing of their room and Wilson having heard Chase and House have sex. Cuddy finds Chase and tells him he should be covered up. Death tells Chase that he's officially her family and Sirius teases Chase about him being a bit bitchy the last time it had snowed. Jay comes by and Chase gives him hell because he's actually wearing a shirt.

December 6th:

Chase spends his Clinic hours trying to plod through Emma. Cuddy comes by to ask why the book and Chase admits it's so he doesn't make an idiot of himself at Jane's wedding. Chase and Bridget talk about how far along in the pregnancy she is and the fact that the baby no longer has a godfather. Sara is working on herbs and chats to Chase as she does.

Mal is forlorn about his ship and Chase tries his best to reassure him.

December 8th:

Chase stumbles across a vigil to watch the night sky and although he feels left out and out of place, he briefly speaks with both Death and the Doctor.

Jack stops by to proclaim his love of the holiday, Cuddy tries not to give him a hard time, the Doctor comes by to show Chase several ties for the wedding, Ragetti needs the tradition explained to him, Sirius flirts with Chase, and Veronica commiserates about evil plants.

Chase models off his wedding-wear for House, before Chase expresses concern about House's well-being.

December 18th:

Chase finds Meredith Grey outside in the cold and tries to get her inside to warm her up.

December 21st:

Chase gets overly excited about the hot cocoa before he and House discuss the paper.

December 22nd:

dr_robchase: (ooh WRONG)
November 8th:

Chase comes across Jack trying to woo the bookshelf in order to properly cook for a CSI labrat.

November 10th:

Chase talks to the Doctor at the Council party about him having lost, but also implores him to not ever call him 'sugar'. The reason for that lies with Jack and House unnerving him.

November 15th:

After discovering House making a mess of the Clinic, Chase finds he's moving to the Treehouse. Chase has to argue his living situation, in which he splits time between his old bed and new one. Things get mildly tense when Chase tells House that his mother has disappeared and jealousy is brought up.

November 16th:

Still in a mood, Chase finds the Doctor prepping for Thanksgiving and happens to meet Sarah Jane in the process.

November 22nd:

At the Doctor's simultaneous birthday and Thanksgiving, Chase wishes Death a happy holiday and he gives the Doctor his gold signet ring.

November 23rd:

Chase finds House in a less than pleased mood and discovers it's because of the Thanksgiving party. Chase is confused, of course, because he also has a ring for House, for equity's sake.

November 24th:

Chase runs into Wilson and is happy to share how unhappy with the man he is, after Wilson punched the Doctor.

November 26th:

Chase's bad mood worsens when the last bottle of gin his mother ever drank before her death arrives. He watches reels of House MD for catharsis. Cuddy comes along for company, the Doctor comes by for comfort, Romana tries to distract, and House does his best to figure out what's wrong.
dr_robchase: (half drugged: by 40licks22)
When the party was winding down, he knew he had one more thing left for him and it was coming in a very attractive package, just waiting for him. He slowly sidled over, extending the Doctor a bemused smile as he continued to eat the chocolate frosting from his finger. "So," he spoke, slightly tipsy from all the alcohol and the adrenaline. "I'm thirty now. Which means I have to be dignified. Serious. And most of all," he said, skipping a beat. "Adult interrelations."

He gave a very business-oriented nod. "Uh huh. Because now. Thirty."
dr_robchase: (half drugged: by 40licks22)
October 28th:

Chase brings candy to House in order to awkwardly apologize about reacting to House and the Doctor the way he did. He then awkwardly (as is the key of that conversation) asks for a date.

October 29th:

Lilly Kane, upon meeting Chase, decides that there are too many handsome men about. He gets flirted with for a while and he tries to ease her into the Island ways.

October 30th:

Jack gets to hear all about how Chase isn't a morning person while they drink coffee. He officially offers his help in building the Treehouse.

October 31st:

Chase believes it's retroactive karma when, on Halloween, he wakes up as a priest. The Doctor thinks he looks gorgeous and manages to seduce a kiss or two with a grope, Jack comes by looking more naked than anything, and Padme commiserates with Chase's plight.

Chase has a hard time maintaining the chastity of his costume when he sees Romana in a Jessica Rabbit costume.

November 1st:

Chase inaugurates the first of the weekly Clinic shifts for doctors. Bridget comes in looking for House, but finds Chase instead who is all too happy to tell Bridget about House's Halloween costume (Santa Claus). Romana comes by to show him that she's been able to put clothes back on, something Chase is all too unhappy about and gets a kiss out of her before the conversation turns to secrets and Chase reveals he wants a child. Cuddy drops by to make sure the running of the Clinic is smooth.

"Wanted to be a better father than my own Dad was and raise my own little boy and just...love him, unconditionally."

Romana nodded thoughtfully, smiling slightly. "I'll hug him and teach him everything I know, and properly comfort and let him do whatever. Love, I think," she commented softly. She titled her head up and smiled a bit wider. "You'd make an excellent father, Rob. I'm sure of it."

Chase's smile was filled with emotion as he kissed her softly again, murmuring a quiet 'thank you' into her lips, wrapping his arms tighter around her and just holding her close.

November 2nd:

Chase comes through on a promise, which just so happens to involved kissing the hell out of House.

Chase discovers the Doctor in a mood and talks to him to see what's wrong while hinting that his birthday is approaching.

November 3rd:

At Samhain, the Doctor pries into Chase's personal life and tries to find out when his birthday is. Then there are drunken antics. Isolde welcomes him to the gathering, as all good hostesses do. He flirts as much as he can with Maureen before he sees Wilson back for the first time and thinks he's either too drunk or hallucinating.

November 7th:

When Chase sees a man up in a tree that resembles the Doctor, he does the natural thing in assuming it is. Except that it's just Casanova, whose type Chase really isn't.

Privately, Chase reflects quietly and happily on his birthday. Romana comes by whilst belittling Aristotle and for his birthday gift, they finally sleep together. Chase meets Maturin for the first time and after discussing the need for Doctors, they begin to talk of diseases and Maturin's unique idea for solving STD's which happens to involve castration. Sirius wants to know what Chase is so smug about and a quick conversation leads Chase to tell his secret. His mother comes by to give him a card and birthday wishes before the conversation turns to Rowan. Cuddy drops by to check on Chase, Wilson comes by to offer birthday wishes, and the Doctor comes bearing a gift (of a puzzle box and a key that means more than just a key).
dr_robchase: (clueless)
The world and all its trappings had a vaguely stiff feel to them, as Chase made his way around the Clinic, now devoid of all strange alien machinery and the stuff of his childhood nightmares. He wasn't connected up to anything, but there sure as hell were marks on him, on the tracks of his arms, on his elbows, places he didn't understand. The minute he woke, he'd made sure to thank Martha profusely before putting the same scrubs he had started October 31st with on.

And then the people came flooding in. He had focused on Paige, because a Guthrie was a Guthrie and he had vowed to protect her. Later, he would check on Will and Gwen, but the idea of leaving the Clinic was foreign to him; unthinkable. Right now, Chase could see that the Clinic was safe and he didn't want to leave.

The world continued to pass in slow-motion, refusing to speed up and let Chase back in. Every so often, just now and again, he would think he saw a bright light out of the corner of his eyes, one that brought about an even mix of dread and excitement and he hated himself just a little for that. He had seen the light, that promised white light, and he didn't even care if House was right and it was just chemicals. It had been there. He had seen it.

He could think on that later with a Bible in hand and rosary in palm.

For the moment, he just wanted to work.
