Something was not right when Wednesday came around.

It wasn't costumes. It wasn't anything strange. It was just a sound, one single sound in the distance that should have warned him about everything. There was a scream, somewhere in the distance. And then came Klaus' voice over the radio. Chase hated keeping a radio, but it was a compromise that the Doctor had insisted upon. On days like this, Chase was glad he'd listened.

He didn't even hesitate as he rolled out of bed, yanking a pair of scrubs on as fast as he could and grabbing all his supplies as he tugged the Doctor's coat on, just needing something for the trip in the morning air.

"Doctor, wake up," he mumbled, just in case he hadn't been startled awake yet.

September 30th:

Chase finds House in pain and they discuss his leg and Vicodin. Chase is mildly surprised when it turns out that House had sex with Jack Harkness.

October 2nd:

Chase finds Jack at the beach and they talk about deep issues like House and the Doctor before they give in to more primal urges and kiss.

In the clinic, Chase feels the pain associated with taking the walk down to the beach. He has a chance to explain to Romana how he got injured after she tells him about Death's presence on the Island. Foreman and Chase are slightly tense, but Foreman is still a friend and Chase tries to do whatever he can to ease things between them. The Doctor comes to chew Chase out for the Council nomination and then gives him a stern eyeful about the walk to the beach. House also wants to know if it was Chase that nominated him.

October 3rd:

Chase, in a rare excited and good mood uses it to try (and successfully) seduce House.

October 6th:

Chase sneaks out and is rewarded by finding Mal with a newly arrived item from home.

October 8th:

When Death comes in and knows Chase despite them never having met, he is slightly spooked. He then has to explain the menstrual cycle to her.

Chase very much enjoys himself at House's sexual education class. Until the end, when he gets a little closed in and sends House off with Jack and the Doctor.

October 9th:

Breakfast becomes a serious talk with the Doctor. Chase tells the Doctor about not wanting to have so much sex and the Doctor agrees, but still asks Chase on a date.

After going a little stir-crazy being constrained to the Clinic, Chase invites himself along on a picnic with his mother.

Chase spills the relationship beans for Jay to pick through.

October 11th:

The Doctor introduces things like normal dates to Chase.

October 19th:

Chase is lucky enough to find House being bored. Chase, however, is in a mood because his father's body has been unearthed by shifting soil and a bulletin board post is asking for it to be reclaimed. He'd rather not think about it.

October 20th:

In order to shake the ill feeling of his father's body resurfacing, Chase pushes himself on a too-long run. Josh notes Chase's lack of looking good and tries to figure out why. Sirius comes by looking about as bad as Chase does and asks to be checked out, having had a fight with James. The Doctor notes that Chase needs a shower and comfort and offers to give him the latter when he finds out what's up. Cuddy expresses concern over Chase and Romana doesn't want Chase to die.

October 23rd:

Chase finds out that the Doctor and House fooled around and it hits harder than he'd like it to.

October 26th:

Chase finds Veronica playing with a monkey. He then expresses his trouble with parallelogram love structures.

September 9th:

Cookies and a note of love are saved for Chase by his mother, which he is extremely grateful for.

September 12th:

Chase finds the Doctor playing Chef in the kitchen and when he prods as to why, discovers that the Doctor is becoming concerned with how much sex he has. Chase decides to solve the situation by kidnapping the Doctor for a brief session.

Instead of running off at the sight of House with a book on obstretics, Chase offers House rock candy and tries to make him jealous using the Doctor. Then someone folds and they kiss.

September 15th:

Chase wakes up in the clinic after falling asleep on his book to find House being a little overbearing and a lot overcaring. He realizes that something is definitely up. House is too nice.

Chase quickly realizes that Romana isn't quite herself either when she starts spouting flowery words about babies and marriage.

September 16th:

The Doctor sitting and looking vaguely normal inspires Chase to pull a prank and act switched, but he folds quickly enough and he and the Doctor take solace in normalcy.

September 17th:

House's normal personality is still out to lunch to Chase's dismay and House gives him a selfless sexual act, even.

Chase updates the Doctor on Jack's progress.

September 18th:

The events of the opposite weekend are blamed on Chase by House.

September 19th:

Chase bumps into Cuddy, who has reappeared on the Island.

The bandage on Callahan's neck gets Chase's attention and after he notices his cleric's collar, Callahan takes Chase's confession and one is offered in return.

September 21st:

The Doctor has found tea and information. He shares the information with Chase, but not the tea. Phedre's lover/boyfriend has returned.

The information comes back to bite Chase in the ass when House discovers that Chase was keeping it from him.

September 23rd:

Chase begins what he expects to be a boring clinic shift. Books are thrown by and at the Doctor, Jenny Curran stops in for a checkup on her condition (HIV), Jack whines about being stuck, he teases Romana endlessly about her opposite persona, Sirius updates Chase on his living situation, Imriel comes in for a monkey-bite treatment, Dany wants a checkup for her pregnancy, and Shane comes in to have her knee looked at.

September 29th:

Though jogging is good for you, tripping is not. Chase gets lodged under some rocks and by the time he gets himself out, the Doctor has come looking for him out of concern. He ends up having to carry him back to House in the clinic.

It was Friday that Chase was setting up his books to learn how to make vegemite, trying to figure out what he was going to do with all those jars of brewer's yeast he had from Gwen now. And besides, it was better than wasting it. Even if he was the only one who'd actually eat it. So there were those books, and the Italian books, and then a third notebook where Chase was making little scribbles of journal notes.

As far as he was concerned, multitasking was the thing to do. Maybe he could convince the Doctor to watch a movie or have a dinner out or something later. Fridays were good for that.
dr_robchase: (snapshots)
After the silver that Marian had given them during the reception had been melted down and then forged into a very specific photo-frame (silver with leaves, according to the Doctor, had to be that), but the thing was, there was no picture to go along with it. That was when Chase had figured he ought to at least ask Lionel for a favour.

He'd almost been surprised when the answer was yes. So there they were, in the best Chase could find (which was a navy-blue button down and pair of jeans) and he was staring in confusion all around. "Okay, so, what the hell am I doing?"

After all the dancing, he'd let the Doctor slip away for a drink or two while Chase opted to nurse himself icy cool glasses of water and nothing more. It was a big night for other people and it was his turn to be responsible. He was good at that.

He was currently in the middle of a tall glass of juice, finishing it off as he kept an eye on the dance floor for the happy couples, his lips turning upwards when he remembered that he was part of one of those happy couples.

He hadn't really expected that.

But it was a good night. And there'd been some good dancing so far.
dr_robchase: (sheepish: by fircyca)
This whole night-before-the-wedding thing was definitely one thing Chase was glad to not have had to deal with, but being that he was going to be standing up there with Gwen, he wanted everything perfect for her. Well, not to mention, it'd be nice to not be horribly humiliated while up there, too.

So he had a white suit-jacket in hand and a black one as he showed them to Gwen, sitting cross-legged on her bed. "You pick," he informed her, intent on taking her mind off the impending day.

To be developed as I have time.

Dependent LSI-1 Style.

The Dependent scale measures the degree to which we feel our efforts do not count. Dependent behaviour originates in a need for security and self-protection; dependent people typically feel that they have very little control over their lives.

In general, this style is characterized by:
  • An over-concern with pleasing people, and not questioning others or taking independent action
  • A passive attitude
  • Feelings of helplessness
  • The presence of rapid change or traumatic set-backs in one's life
  • A tendency to be easily influenced
  • A lack of self-respect, which results in feeling unable to accomplish things
  • Difficulty making decisions

The more these statements describe you, the more Dependent you are:
  • Feel dependent upon others for direction
  • Believe that your effort doesn't count for very much
  • Feel helpless and weak
  • Easily threatened and intimidated
  • Cannot say "no" to others
  • Always do what is expected
  • Feel that others are responsible for your happiness.

Chase had made his way back to the treehouse and he'd spent about thirty minutes just staring forward into space, folding sheets and unable to get that...that image out of his head. It wasn't necessarily bad at all, but the problem was that it made things concrete in his head, took the abstract away and filled it with something more.

"Shit," he swore softly aloud, running his hand over his chin and rubbing there before carting his things off and setting them aside as he got out the necessities to sleep on the couch.
    dr_robchase: (KITTY)
He was still a cat, but now Chase was wandering the Island and looking for the Doctor in every place he could. He had exhausted the Treehouse along with the school and so now, out of near-desperation, he was checking House and Jack's hut, plodding along with tiny paws and mewling as he went.

It was hard to stare all the way up, but he made it outside the hut and just sat very perfectly, meowing loudly to see if he got anyone's attention.
    dr_robchase: (Default)
Chase was stuffing his shirts into the drawer, rolling his eyes as he did, still on his tirade that he'd started fifteen minutes earlier. "...and it's not that I don't mind all these occasions," he said, gaze flicking up at the Doctor from over the bed while he hung up his ties, tossing some weird branch over to the bed, wondering when Atalanta had brought kindling in. "But I am sick and tired of a party every week to go to. I'm working twice as much as before, I'm tired, and now I have to be this social butterfly?"

He scoffed, turning around to start on his trousers. "Not that I don't love my friends, but I swear...is a little space between events so much to ask?"

    dr_robchase: (wuv you: by _imaginarium_)
While it was clearly a distraction, the Doctor filed the thought away temporarily and took Chase's hand. "All right," he said, not going to let the chance slip.

It wasn't so bad. It wasn't as bad as a year before, when he loathed the thought of dancing. Here and then, in the Doctor's arms, it was never so bad. He could enjoy it; appreciate, even. He took hold of his hand, the other going to his waist as he fell into a slow dance, more of a waltz than a sway.

In between medical texts, he'd researched dancing, too.
    dr_robchase: (cutie: by bythe_fireside)
Chase had been on his way to do some studying, but when he realized that the Doctor was still asleep, he'd amended his plans to make something quick to leave in the Treehouse before he left for the day. He knew that he joked a lot about not being able to cook, but the truth was that he preferred admitting that.

He didn't like remembering why he knew how to cook. It was just dark memories of lonely dinners and meals delivered to a bedroom that smelled of vodka and gin.

Even so, he didn't mind making something when it was for someone he loved. Except, when he got to the kitchen, there was already a young boy cooking something. Chase sized him up quietly, just noting to himself everything (from the expression to the missing fingers) and leaned against the nearest wall with his hip. "Can I share some space?" he asked, pitching his tone with warmth.

He just liked kids, really. Easier to get along with.
    dr_robchase: (dirty: by ?)
Chase's eyes rolled into the back of his head and he tipped his gaze to the ceiling, moaning loudly. "Oh my ggggod," he gasped, yanking the Doctor closer as he kissed him again firmly. "Also?" he murmured. "I like the smell."

There was a smirk against Chase's neck, and the Doctor dragged him up a few more stairs. "Knew it," he whispered. "So, you want to consummate this marriage, love, or are we saving that for a trip to Majorca?"

Chase yanked open the door to their room and yanked him closer to kiss him desperately, hands shoving into the back pockets of the Doctor's trousers, pulling him into the room and pushed their bodies together because he didn't want to ever, ever move apart. "What are we doing for our honeymoon?" he wondered as he stared at the Doctor.
    dr_robchase: (aww man: by ?)
Chase had been dropping by the Compound in an effort to get a checklist done in his head (propose, check, get patched up, check, go sleepless and have mild PTSD, check, think of honeymoon, check, get new crop of 'medication', uncheck) and he knew he needed to part from the Doctor in order to do it, even if it ... well, sucked.

He found Wilson outside, strangely, doing something with something or other, which got Chase curious, if nothing else. "What's going on?" he asked, slowly.
    dr_robchase: (diagnosis dubious: by tolerancewrong)
He'd made sure, before he went to visit the Clinic, that he had taken the ring off and put it on the chain around his neck with his key. And then he'd gone to see if his former-boss (and former-other-stuff) was okay. Really, it was an exercise in bravery too, just getting himself out of the Treehouse and walking a distance like that.

He could do it. He had to.

When he arrived at the Clinic, it looked like it was still sort of busy, but he at least found House there, which was something. It was definitely something. "Still here," he called over, trying to hide his stupid grin at finding House alive and okay and there.
    dr_robchase: (frustration: by ?)
It had been too many days, really. There was clear night and there was day and there was some in-between, but Chase wasn't sure what it was anymore. There had been people to patch up, cries he heard and moved towards only to find they were never there to begin with. Around the second day, he'd tried to swim out, but that hadn't worked.

On the third day, he had wound up pushed against a tight space, his hip clawed at, his clothes tattered and torn and he couldn't make anything of them.

And now. Now he didn't even know when it was, but no one was screaming anymore, no one was shouting and he thought that just maybe, he was getting closer to getting out. He was exhausted and maybe he was seeing things, but he prayed that what he was seeing was a path, because otherwise...he didn't know what to do. All he could think about was getting back because this wasn't supposed to be the end of his life. Not this.

He wanted to work another clinic shift, play with Dixon again, see Gwen and Veronica and Bridget and hear Jay teasing him. God, he just wanted to see the Doctor. Just once more, just to tell him everything because apparently when you didn't, you got drop-kicked into dino-territory and left to fend for yourself. Maybe it'd made him soft, but he hadn't gone this long without being with the Doctor and it was driving him mad. Mad because he was worried about not seeing him, desperately worried that the Doctor was somewhere out there and he couldn't find him. What if...what if he never got to fall asleep with him, or even just wake up to him, or what if...

    He was mired in what-ifs.
    dr_robchase: (frustration: by ?)
He had told the Doctor that he should go, find the others, see if everyone was okay. Of course he hadn't meant a word of it, had really meant stay, please don't leave me, please, please, please. But then, when recently engaged and rescued from dinosaurs, exhausted with low blood sugar and a wound on his hip deep enough to earn its own name (the Grand Chase Canyon), he really wasn't in the best headspace.

So he had pushed the Doctor to go do his things, because he had to learn sometime. And anyway, he was wrapped in massive blankets, only his eyes and forehead and hair peeking out from under, half-asleep and swathed in protective cotton and linens.

    It felt nice.

Even if he didn't want to close his eyes too much, for fear he'd be yanked right back to Mr. T-Rex.
