He'd seen his name on the bulletin board and his little cute 'pseudonym' and he'd immediately gone in search of, oh, maybe an explanation or two or maybe to wonder just who was cruel enough to have done that to him. Not to mention he had to find out who was in charge of the whole thing and plead with them to let him off the hook, seeing as he didn't even want to do it in the first place.

Because...god, everyone was going to laugh and it was going to be miserable.

Karen scrunched her face up and nodded with a shrug.

"Ooh," she said a moment later, and turned to Veronica, grabbing her arm, "showtunes."

Chase let out a scoff of a protest and then rubbed at his forehead. "It's only one thing, right? Just one?" As if mitigating the damage would possibly make him feel better.

"Oh my god," Veronica breathed, turning to face Karen, her eyes lighting up. "Genius." She bit her lip, mind racing through the possibilities as Chase spoke. "Just one, yeah, and it has to be good. A Chorus Line? Cabaret? Cats?"

Alright, so sue her, she liked musical theatre.

"One dress, one performance, that's it," Karen confirmed.

She grinned at Veronica, practically bouncing in excitement. "Cabaret, definitely."

Chase was rubbing his eyes now, a headache impeding in his temples. "And you don't touch my clothes, my hair, or the Doctor in the deal?"

"Sounds to me like we've got ourselves a deal," Veronica said airily, chin tilting higher as she offered her hand to Chase to shake on it. Her gaze flickered to the side then, her eyes widening and mouth opening into a grin.

"'Don't Tell Mama'! We did Cabaret at my school year before I came here, and... and a girl I know did that one for the audition. Kind of perfect."

"Perfect," Karen agreed, feeling largely satisfied now that they had the basics - and Chase's consent - down.

"Who knows?" she added, shrugging at Chase. "I might even try out, too."

"You'd better," he demanded, exhaling the word in a bit of a spat and hurried plea. "I'm so not doing this on my own. Please don't make me?"

"You're not doing it on your own," Veronica assured him, laying a hand on Chase's arm, blue eyes widening. "We'll help you every step of the way. Except the last one." She glanced over at Karen, curious, gaze flickering over the other woman as she assessed the possibilities of that last remark. "We'd need a name for you, too."

I can't do it. All embarrassments aside, I'd have to be a male midget.

Karen gave Veronica the facial equivalent of a shrug, then stepped over to Chase and hooked her arm into his. "Ben Dover," she suggested, then, in an effort not to suggest every Bart Simpson prank call ever, only added, "Jacques Strap?"

Chase had taken to pinching the bridge of his nose with his free hand, rubbing at his forehead. "Just keep talking over my objections," he allowed with a sigh. "You probably would anyway."

Veronica gave a soft laugh of appreciation. "Ben Dover," she said. "Oh god, definitely." Shifting her attention back to Chase, she slipped her arm through his and patted his elbow. "There, there. We will."
