Birthday Boy [For House]

Chase knew what day it was before he'd even woken up and he just clasped his pillow and used it to cover his head, burrowing into the bed a little deeper. He sighed, staring at the darkened linens of the bed. A year in this place. Two separate birthdays on this island, the first of which he didn't even tell anyone about.

He slowly turned and tossed again -- just in his ratty t-shirt and boxers -- and got comfortable on his side, trying to sneak in another few hours of sleep, at least before he had to wake up and face reality.

Maybe everyone would forget. It was a nice thought and a good possibility, but somehow, he doubted he was going to get off the hook, just like that.

He turned, lying facing the wall and tugging the sheets up a little higher. No birthday calls today to miss. Just an island to deal with.

"So stay in bed all day it is then," House said, making himself comfortable. "Maybe Cuddy will stop by and we can have her bring us some breakfast."

Chase snorted a little, making room for House and lifting the sheets to let House in under them as he leaned the cane up against the nearest wall. He leaned over for another kiss, smiling against House's lips. "So, I'm older. One step closer to grey hairs and wrinkles."

"Like me?" House lifted an eyebrow and looked suitably offended.

Chase leaned up to press a kiss to House's temple. "I like gray hairs," he murmured, brushing his lips down to a tiny wrinkle. "And laugh lines. Even though how you got them is a mystery," he deadpanned.

"Oh, I've mocked many, many people behind their backs in my life," House assured him. "And I notice none of your other boyfriends have gray hair and wrinkles. So I'm the sexiest of all, eh?"

Chase gave House a bemused look. "The Doctor's just escaping them," he murmured, shifting a little until his arm was slung and draped over House's torso, shifting to rest his chin on House's chest. "Hi."

House sighed. "You're not very good at this, are you? The correct answer is, yes Greg, of course you're the sexiest. What gray hairs? What wrinkles?"

Chase shot a smirk House's way. "I'm sorry," he said, with mock kindness attached to the words. "I thought I could stop sucking up now that I have you in bed."

"Fine then," House murmured, dropping his lips to Chase's neck mostly so he didn't have to look at him. "Just tell me you love me, then." His tone was teasing, but the truth was, after seeing James... he kind of wanted to hear it.

That one was more than easy and he closed his eyes to enjoy the touch pressed to his neck. "No problem," he said, accent a bit thicker. "Seeing as how I actually do love you. Must've used evil Doctor magic," he teased under his breath.

"Mmmm," House agreed softly, "good."

And he didn't want to ruin Chase's birthday by talking about James.

"So." He cleared his throat. "Really, what do you want to do?" He smirked a little, and affected an exaggerated version of Chase's accent - "Shall we shag now or shall we shag later?"

Chase turned at the mockery and gave House the lightest of shoves in the arm. "The accent's not for mocking," he remarked, leaning up to kiss him. "Is that my present? A day of shagging," he exaggerated his accent himself, adding a, "mate," atop it.

"Ooooh, I love it when you talk dirty to me," House teased. "No, actually I do have a present for you, just not with me." Looking smug, he added, "Another present. Not as good as chocolate, but don't I get big points?"

That, now that actually surprised Chase more than a bit and he was left gaping for a second, trying to recover without looking too much like an idiot. He just...wasn't used to people actually celebrating his birthday and he froze, more affected than he thought he'd be. "Yeah," he admitted, with a quiet laugh and a smile. "Lots of big points. Loads."

"Well I thought I should be generous, considering how fun my last birthday was." Pause. "Not the party. That was awkward and terrible. The bit after."

And though it gave him a slight pang to think of Phedre, Chase had been there for part of it too and House was unlikely to forget the one threesome he'd had in his life.

Chase's face slowly lit up in recollection of exactly what House was talking about. "That was something," he admitted, shifting and settling with his back propped up against the head of the bed and the wall.

"Yeah... something. I'm amazed I didn't celebrate getting older by having a heart attack when it was over."

Chase looked over at House, just bemused and comfortable to be lying there with him. "So, any prospects if we're repeating history?"

House snorted. "Oh, so is that what you want for your birthday?"

[dr_robchase]

Chase shook his head. "God, no," he snorted. "Like things aren't complicated enough?" He moved his fingers to House's thigh, tiptoeing up higher in a spider-crawl. "Just don't know what you have planned."

"Thank god," House muttered. The last thing he wanted was to see Chase with someone else, he didn't care if he was there or not.

It was amazing he hadn't gone completely insane in this arrangement so far, but it was no wonder he was so tense all the time lately. Greg House did not share well with others.

"Don't worry, I'm not that brave."

Chase leaned over for another lengthy kiss, eager to just capture House's lips with his own and take his time exploring yet another in a long line of kisses with him.

"Rob..." House murmured into his mouth, "I really don't think this counts as a date."

Chase eased back, giving House an expectant look. "If you make me shower, I'm expecting a big date," he warned.

House shrugged. "I know it's your birthday but you were the one who was doing the planning."
